I can dry the dishes, and make them shine.
**Add other verses, letting children decide on chores they can do.

See my family? See them all?
(Hold up all five fingers)
Some are short
(Hold up thumb)
Some are tall
(Hold up middle finger)
Father,
(Hold up middle finger)
Mother,
(Hold up pointer finger)
Sister,
(Hold up ring finger)
Brother
(Hold up thumb)
And me.
(Hold up pinky finger)

THIS IS THE MOTHER
This is the mother, kind and dear.
(Make fist then point to the thumb)
This is the father sitting near.

This is the brother strong and tall.
This is the sister, who plays with her ball.
This is the baby, the littlest of all.

(Wiggle all fingers)

This is the roof of the house so good.

These are the walls that are made of wood.
(Hands straight, palms parallel)
These are the windows that let in the light.
(Thumbs and forefingers form windows)
This is the door that shuts so tight.
(Hands straight by side)
This is the chimney so straight and tall.
(Arms up straight)
Oh! What a good house for one and all!

WHAT IS A FAMILY?

Families are big,
And families are small,
Families give love,
And care to us all.
People in families
Work and play, too.
I live in a family,
And so do you!
Families are different,
None are the small.
Some families have
Special names.
Families have ways,
So special and fine.
You love your family,
I sure love mine!

DIFFERENT HOMES
A sparrow's home is a nest in a tree,
(Cup one hand, palm-up; perch other hand on edge)
An octopus' home is a cave beneath the sea.
(Hook thumbs together; wiggle fingers)
In a hole in the ground a little rabbit hides,
(Close fingers around thumb; slowly lift thumb, straighten, bend a little)
A sunflower is where a little gnome resides.
(Palm flat, spread fingers, palm-up; perch other hand in center)
A hollowed-out log is for the porcupine,
(Place cupped palm palm-down on table; move other fist inside)
But the best home of all is the one that's mine!
(Point to chest)
